Travels

We went to La Paz, our bus was maybe 30 minutes away ... after travelling for 16 and a half hours and theres a PARO!  People have lit fires on the road so cars, buses, trucks can't go through as the people of El Alto are protesting.  So we have to decide to wait till night time (it's about 10:30 in the morning) or walk!  We got our bags off and decided to walk so we would be able to see some of La Paz that day.
Walking with a whole lot of other people in the same situation - it was the hottest part of the day!

These boys were offering rides in a trailer attached to their bike for a small fee, so I took it for about 20 mins!  Walking with a big backpack at up to 4,000 odd metres above sea level aint easy :P  From leaving the bus , it took 3.5 hours walking before we reached the end of the Paro (blockade) at El Alto and were able to get a taxi the rest of the way.

We were cold (it just started to rain when we reached the end of the Paro), tired, sore and a bit grumpy after that, then we saw the view of La Paz coming down from El Alto in the taxi - it made up for it!
In La Paz, we did what was the world's most dangerous road bike ride, it poured with rain most of the time but was fun!  Amazing scenery!

After La Paz, me and Rach travelled on to Peru.  We visited Puno, where they have the Uros Islands or Floating Islands made out of reeds which are on Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world.  It just looks like a Lake - nothing special but the Islands are different, very touristy though.

These kids beg and sell their wares to you, sing you a song on the boat ride on a totara (reed) boat that you have to pay an extra 5 soles for, they are quite poor though.  These reeds are soft as, very comfortable!

After that, off to Cusco, in Peru after a nights stay at Rachaels town Calca, 40 mins out of Cusco.

Plaza de Armas in Cusco.  Cusco has lots of tourists and is a modern city. It has Mc Donalds and KFC!

Then, Machu Picchu!

Bahahaha!
