Buenos Aires

So we have been in Buenos Aires for 4 nights now.  We are so overwhelmed with the hospitality of our spiritual family at Bethel but of course, we already knew that in Jehovah´s organization it is like this wherever we are in the world.

Day one, we toured the 3 different complexes here at Bethel.  Then at night - a couple of brothers took us out to see the city.  We walked for miles  and miles, I think I am going to be skinny when we come home, we have done so much walking every day. We saw lots of landmarks and saw the pink parliament house - where Eva Peron sang.  We saw lots of old, beautiful buildings.  Then we went out for dinner and had pizza and Stella Artois, was yum, cheap and filling.

Day 2 - we went with Lucas who has been looking after us, witnessing.  We caught a bus and then walked a few blocks to the Kingdom Hall.  Preaching here in the city - many people are busy and are not at home, but it is better to do informal witnessing on the street and at parks - it is more successful this way.  But we still enjoyed working along with our brothers and sisters, getting to know them.  We have had to use our limited spanish alot to communicate but we have managed quite well as some know a little english.

A Witness couple took us to the distrcit where there are leather shops and we had a good look around there afterwards.  Then we went to the meeting in the afternoon, they have about 114 publishers in their congregation and the singing was nice and loud.  Almost every seat was taken.  We were really tired but tried to keep awake lol.  Afterwards, the brothers that took us to the meeting had to push another brother in a wheelchair home, so we walked about 5 blocks to take him home, then got on the bus.  We had supper with a few Bethel brothers who made us some empanadas and cheese on toast and we did a little bit dancing, then finally we hit the sack.

Day three - we went to the bus station to organize our bus tickets to Iguassu Falls.  We will be on the bus for about 17 hours by bus, arrgh.  We hope to get a lot of sleep though.  At the bus station, we saw a tourist in the toilet that got´¨mustarded¨.  Some people come up to you and spill mustard on you and pretend to help clean you up, while their accomplice tries to steal something from your bags, we are not looking forward to being back at the bus station with all our bags.  After that we went to a tourist place called La Boca.  The small streets are lined with cafes and restaurants and at each restaurant they have free shows, some people are doing tango dancing etc.  It is a nice atmosphere, with lots of music and markets, it is quite pretty.  But people are trying to sell you everything like photos of yourself doing a tango pose or with this guy that apparently looks exactly like one of the Argentina rugby players.  You have to watch your belongings at La Boca as people know alot of tourists come there.

We have loved our stay with the Bethel family, they have spoilt us and we will miss them.  We have made many friends already and all have shown us love and hospitality.  We leave Bethel in about an hour, we are getting dropped off at the bus station and from there we will go to Iguassu Falls.  It is viewed as one of the new seven wonders of the world, so we hope so to make up for the long bus rides lol.  This computer won´t do exclamation marks etc, dumb so I can´t add expressions.  And sorry if there are lots of spelling mistakes, I am feeling dizzy doing this.  The brother who is looking after us has organized accomadation with a brother in Iguazu who owns tourist cabins, so it is good that we won´t have the hassle of looking for accomodation when we get there - and he has given us a big discount, we did not expect that, so we are so spoilt in every way, they have been looking after us.  After Iguazu, we have another 20 hour bus ride to Salta, where we will spend a night and then it is another 8 hours or so till we get to Tarija where we will meet up with our friends and will be staying for a month.

Until the next Internet cafe or wifi, adios xxxx
